Building Brighter futures together: The power of partnerships at The Big Trust

At The Big Trust, we believe that partnerships change lives. Every young person in the Liverpool City Region deserves the opportunity to thrive - to find their voice, to access meaningful work, and to shape a positive future for themselves and their community.

For many young people, those opportunities can feel out of reach. That's where collaboration comes in. Real, lasting change happens when people, businesses and community leaders come together with a shared purpose: to give the next generation the tools, connections, and confidence to succeed.

Why do partnerships matter?

Liverpool has a proud history of community spirit and resilience. It's a city built on people looking out for one another - on generosity and a belief in the potential of its people. At The Big Trust, we're building on that legacy.

The challenges facing the young and disadvantaged people in our city are complex. From barriers to employment and education to limited access to role models or professional networks, there are many factors that can make it harder for young people to take their first steps into the world of work. Partnerships help us overcome those challenges by connecting the dots - linking young people with employers, mentors, training opportunities and organisations who can open doors that might otherwise stay closed.

Through collaboration, we amplify our impact. We share expertise, resources, and connections. We learn from one another. And most importantly, we create sustainable change - change that reaches beyond individual projects and leaves a lasting legacy across the Liverpool City Region.

The role of our community impact board.

Our community impact board is at the heart of this work. It brings together people who care deeply about the future of our region - people who bring their knowledge, experience, and networks to help guide our mission and expand our impact.

The board plays a crucial role in shaping strategy, supporting decision-making, and ensuring that everything we do is for the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve. It's a space where ideas are shared, challenges are discussed, and solutions are developed collaboratively.

As we look ahead and we are in the process of planning a number of new programmes and initiatives designed to support young people across the Liverpool City Region. These projects will focus on creating meaningful pathways into work, building confidence and skills, and strengthening connections. That's why this is an exciting time for our community impact board - and why we're keen to ensure that it continues to reflect the diversity, energy, and ambition of our city.

A time for renewal and growth

We are inviting all current board members to reflect on their involvement - to consider whether they're able to continue giving their time, energy, and insight as part of this important work. We know people's circumstances change, and that's perfectly natural. We're incredibly grateful for the contributions of everyone who has helped bring The Big Trust's mission to life so far.

At the same time, we're opening the doors to new members - individuals and businesses who share our passion for helping young people and want to play an active role in shaping Liverpool's future. Whether you're from the private sector, education, local government, or the voluntary and community world, we'd love to hear from you.

Could you be part of it?

  • Do you believe in the potential of Liverpool's young people?

  • Do you want to help create real opportunities for the next generation?

  • Do you have ideas, experience, or networks that could help us build stronger partnerships the and greater impact?

If the answer is yes, then there's a place for you to the table.

Being part of The Big Trust's community impact board isn't just about attending meetings - it's about being part of a movement. It's about standing alongside others who believe that every young person, no matter their background, deserve the chance to succeed. It's about using your experience and influence to help create a Liverpool where opportunity is shared and potential is realised.
