The Big Trust selected as partner for Liverpool's Trailblazer programme

As you may know, The Big Trust has been selected as one of the delivery partners for the Liverpool City Council Trailblazer programme, part of the national Youth Guarantee Trailblazer (YGT) initiative.

This exciting programme is designed to support young people across the Liverpool City Region who are economically inactive or NEET (not in employment, education or training). The programme is funded through a grant from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, one of eight areas nationally chosen to test new and innovative ways of helping young people aged 18-21 access meaningful employment opportunities.

Over the coming months, The Big Trust will work alongside Liverpool City Council and other partners to deliver tailored programmes that connect young people with local employers, inspire confidence, and build pathways into long-term work and training.

The Trailblazer programme focuses on several key areas:

• Providing enhanced support for care-experienced young people.

• Conducting behavioural insight research into long-term NEETs to better understand the barriers they face.

• Offering targeted employability support to fill current gaps in provision.

• Engaging local employers to create inclusive, sustainable job opportunities for young people.

Getting started: Planning, Partnership, and People

Over the last few weeks, members of our team have been out at several Trailblazer events across the city - connecting with fellow partners, employers and community leaders who share our passion for empowering Liverpool's youth. We are now in the planning and sign up stage of our programme, designing impactful, person-centred support that meets the needs of the young people who have already signed up.

We have also begun meeting some of these inspiring young people - hearing their stories, ambitions, and challenges first hand. Their voices will shape how we deliver our support, ensuring our approach remains authentic and rooted in real experience.
