At The Big Trust, we are dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities across the Liverpool City region. Our mission is rooted in compassion, social justice and opportunity - ensuring that the most vulnerable members of society are not left behind.
We work with people who have often been written off by society - people affected by trauma, adults who feel invisible, and families struggling to break cycles of disadvantage. What we see if potential, not problems. What we offer is belief, support and a second chance.
One of our core strategies is to empower people through employment. We work closely with local businesses, training providers and support organisations to create employment and volunteering opportunities who those who have experienced long term unemployment, low confidence or a lack of qualifications. We also offer pre-employment training and mentoring, preparing people with the skills and mindset needed to succeed in the workplace.
Why do we do it?
We engage intensively with young people facing complex challenges. Many of the young people we support have been impacted by
Domestic abuse and family breakdown
Criminal exploitation and trafficking
Involvement in or exposure to crime
Low self-esteem and mental health issues
Disengagement from education and trafficking
As of February 2023, the proportion of young people identified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) stands at 8.5%, significantly about the national average for England which is 5.2%. Most vulnerable to become NEET are young carers, looked-after children and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We aim to reduce this number, and how do we do it?
How do we do it?
We work with the young people to try to:
Rebuild confidence and trust.
Re-engage with education, training or work.

We do this with strong partnerships.
How do we recognise results?
